South Shore Minibus Adventure
PARTNER TOUR – HANDPICKED ESPECIALLY FOR YOU
An affordable – no frills – small group tour around the south coast. Great for adventurous spirits and solo travelers.
There are endless possibilities and about a million tours when it comes to exploring the south coast but we are fairly certain that you won’t find a small group tour (18 passengers max) to the south coast for a better price. Due to the smaller group size we recommend this tour in particular to solo travelers who may want to meet new friends while taking in the sights.
If you prefer bigger tours, we can also offer a big bus version of this south coast tour for a similar price.
Pick up and drop off
Warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, headwear, gloves and sturdy shoes.
Shoes and waterproof clothing can be rented for a small fee in the booking process
About this tour
This tour will pick you up in Reykjavík and bring you to the south shore with its many beautiful sightings. After a drive over the Hellisheiði pass you will get to see an outlet of the fourth largest glacier in Iceland, Mýrdalsjökull, and from there you will continue to the famous black sand beach Reynisfjara. From the beach you can take pictures of two humongous trolls that turned to stones, along with their ship, out in the sea not far off from the coast (or if you prefer: the Reynisdrangar basalt stacks).
The next stop is at a church situated on a hill overlooking the pretty town of Vík, the southernmost town in Iceland. On the way back to Reykjavík you will stop at two beautiful waterfalls, Skógafoss, which is roughly 65 meters tall and Seljalandsfoss, which is special for the fact that you can walk behind it.
Lunch and restrooms
This tour is operated in a small bus and there are no facilities on board but not to worry: there are plenty of restrooms you can use on the way.
Lunch is not included in the price but it’s possible to purchase lunch and snacks on the way.
Pickup for this tour is only offered from authorized pickup points in central Reykjavík as illustrated on the map below. If your pickup location is not on the pickup list, then you are kindly asked to located the closest pickup point from the map below.
When you make a booking, a list with the same pickup points will be presented in the booking process where you choose the one closest to you.
Pickup is unfortunately never offered from private apartments, AirBnB apartments or Keflavík Airport. If you want to join the tour straight from Keflavík Airport, you will need to book airport transfer to Reykjavík first.

This tour is a Partner Tour
What this means is that this tour is not operated by I Heart Reykjavík but one of our trusted partners that we have carefully chosen to help you get the most of your stay in Iceland.
If you intend to book this tour, we hope you consider booking it through us as we earn a small commission of every tour you book through us and that’s how we earn the money needed to keep offering valuable and useful information through the blog to travelers such as yourself.
The partner for this tour is: Arctic Adventures
Arctic Adventures have been around for a long time and are one of the biggest tour operators in Iceland. They are certified with Vakinn, the official quality system for Icelandic tourism, which means they’ve gone through a rigorous process to ensure your safety and wellbeing which is important to us.
They’re also big enough that you shouldn’t have to worry too much about their tours not reaching minimum participant requirements and if your tour is cancelled due to the weather, they have enough departures that it’s easier to reschedule than with some of the smaller companies.
Why we chose this tour for you
We chose this tour because it offers a small group experience, something we prefer ourselves when we travel, at a very competitive price. You can probably not find a tour of the same quality for a lower price.
Who should not book this tour
This tour is a great option for those who put more emphasis on the adventure than necessarily learning a lot about Iceland and its culture. That’s not to say that you won’t learn anything if you join this tour, there are just other companies out there that do the educational part better.
The price of this tour is reflected in the amenities so if you are looking for something a bit more luxurious, this tour is probably not for you. If you’re looking for a no-frills sort of fun, however, this tour is a worthy contender.
