Golden Circle and Magical Nights

There’s more to the Golden Circle than just Gullfoss and Geysir and this tour wants to show you what it is. Think hot pools, saunas, ice cream, great food and a greenhouse full of yummy tomatoes. Please note that this tour was previously called Golden Circle and Traditional tastes – this is still the same tour, just with a new name.

Get more out of your Golden Circle trip with this new tour that combines natural wonders, the warm baths at Fontana Spa and local tastes that delight the taste buds. Homemade ice cream, greenhouses and steam bath over a bubbling geyser – can you ask for much more? If we were to design a golden circle tour of our own, this would be it!

About this tour

The tour starts with a pick-up from your hotel and guesthouse in Reykjavík and from there you leave on a small bus through Þingvellir, towards Friðheimar farm where you will learn more about the greenhouses in Iceland and enjoy a taste of their delicious tomato soup. From Friðheimar you head to the main stars of the show: Gullfoss and Geysir.

Next, you will be taken to Efstidalur farm where you’ll get to taste their homemade skyr (yum) and ice cream (yum yum) before you move to Fontana Spa for warm pools and saunas. After Fontana you will enjoy a two-course meal at Lindin Restaurant but then it’s time to head back to Reykjavík.

In winter the driver will try to find some magical northern lights for you on the way home but in summer you will enjoy the tranquil beauty of Þingvellir under the midnight sun, if weather allows for it of course.

That’s one action-packed and scrumptious day that you shouldn’t miss!

What to wear

Please bring warm clothes as you will be outside for part of the tour. It’s also good to dress in layers so you won’t be too hot inside and on the bus.

Please remember to bring your swimsuit but don’t worry about a towel since it’s included in the price.

“Outstanding tour guide and amazing day!”

My daughter and I booked the Golden Circle/Northern Lights tour through Icelandair. We only had a general idea of what to expect, but were surprised and delighted at the extent of the tour and the knowledge of our tour guide. We were picked up promptly at the designated time. There were 5 of us on the tour and so much was packed into the day- just amazing! Not only that, but we were very well fed along the way! Arni was very open and entertaining, answering all of our questions; It was a pleasure for us all to spend the better part of the day with him; truly this was one of the best tours I've been on.

“Golden Circle and Traditional Tastes tour- AMAZING!”

We took this tour because it was on discount at the tourist center, and it was a great decision! We were only in Iceland for 2 days on our way to Germany, and this was a great use of an entire day. The tour is about 12 hours long. Our guide, Einar, was so knowledgeable and friendly. He not only told us all about the sites we visited, but also took us to a couple of other places out of the way because we had extra time. This particular tour is really unique because you get to see the natural wonder of the golden circle, but you also see traditional food production and visit a geothermal spa at the end of the day. You visit a greenhouse where they grow tomatoes and have lunch. You also visit a dairy farm and an Icelandic restaurant. The tour was very small- 5 people. It was so nice to be in a smaller group. If I return to Iceland, I would do this tour again. That's how enjoyable it was!

“Golden Circle and Traditional Tastes : Splendid”

Went on this tour last December and had a fantastic experience. The guide was fun and helpful and the tour not only interesting but also very well thought with some great food and beautiful landscapes. Our group was small (5 people) and we had time to ask all the questions we wanted to our lovely guide... I wish I could remember his name cause really wanted to say thanks! (All I can remember is that he is expecting a baby soon ... so if you know who it is please say hi and thanks for a great afternoon) Went on several golden circle tours and this one is without a doubt the best one! And by far 🙂
