Glacier Walk and Secret Lagoon

PARTNER TOUR – HANDPICKED ESPECIALLY FOR YOU

A hike on a glacier followed by a soak in a hot pool. This tour makes the most of the two characteristic and opposite features of Iceland: it’s frozen glaciers and the geothermal heat. What could be more perfect than combining these two opposites in one excellent tour?

Along the way you will see a big part of the beautiful south shore of Iceland. The tour includes stops at two of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss.

This is the perfect tour if you want a little more activity than just sightseeing, as you get to actually walk on the glacier and then you add some wonderful relaxation into the mix when you visit the Secret Lagoon.

About

About this tour

This tour starts with a pick up in Reykjavík at 8:30 (note that pick up can take up to 30 minutes). Then you will head right out of the city driving towards the beautiful south shore, enjoying all the interesting scenery along the way. Be ready to start your glacier adventure when you arrive at Sólheimajökull glacier. Although you can quite easily see a glacier from afar when travelling around Iceland, to actually walk on it and get in touch with it, is an extraordinary experience. The glacier is not just an endless white desert, but has its own landscape, offering its visitors sights such as ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses.

The glacier walk might be the highlight of the tour, but it is no way near finished when you walk down from the glacier. Next off are the two waterfalls, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, which are both stunning and the latter unique in the way that it is possible to walk behind it.

After a long day spent walking on a glacier and sightseeing, the Secreet Lagoon is the perfect way to relax. Soak in this oldest Icelandic swimming pool filled with warm water from a natural hot spring. This pool might not be so secret anymore, but its rustic charm has no match. Float on a pool noodle in the middle of nature and watch the little Geysir erupt every few minutes.

As you have bathed in the natural hot water, you have closed the circle from frozen to hot water and will be ready to head back to Reykjavík.

The pick up time is from 8:30 to 8:50 in Reykjavík. Please be ready at your pick up location from 8:30. Refer to the second step of the booking process where you will be asked to choose the most convenient pick up location.

“Great Adventure”

OK, snow mobiling isn't a "city" thing, so this was an excellent chance to do something way out of the ordinary for a Californian. The entire staff was energetic and thorough. They got us suited up quickly and did an excellent briefing on how to handle the snow mobile safely. There were 10 of us, and we were zipped along at a good pace, approaching 60 km/hr, over wide expanses of snow and up to the glacier. The weather wasn't the best, foggy and rainy, but never felt like it was dangerous and there were plenty of guides accompanying our convoy. The weather cleared a bit for the second half of the ride and the views were spectacular.

“Unique experience”

An amazing experience! We booked a double snowmobile and had a great time. The guides picked us up at the Gullfoss cafe and drove us to the base camp. There we got dressed up in warm clothing and after a thorough introduction of the snowmobiles, we were ready to go. Lucky as we were, the clouds disappeared and we enjoyed clear blue skies during our tour. Halfway we stopped at an ice cave and the guides shared a lot of interesting facts and information. It was a unique experience which I would definitely recommend.

“One of a kind expereince”

A MUST do when visiting Iceland. We accidently boarded the wrong vehicle, but our tour guides took the extra effort to find us. We were a small group of 15, which we appreciated very much. The very nice tour guides took us with their Monster Mercedes to the base camp where we were equipped with warm overalls, helmets and gloves. Then we went on to the glacier and get on our snowmobiles. All very new and well maintained equipment. It was exhilarating ride across the stunning beautiful scenery. A the middle of the tour they gave a wonderful surprise. I'm not disclosing their well kept secret - it is well worth to go with this tour because of it. Recommendation: Please wear closed shoes, best are boots or trekking shows. You can wear sneakers, but you'll get wet feet.
