Icelandic Music I like: Góða Tungl by Samaris

Samaris was the winner of the 2011 Músíktilraunir and on their Facebook page they describe themselves as a mixture of trip-hop, dubstep and downtempo beats. I don’t know about all that but I do know that I like them.

Before Airwaves I had heard of them but not heard so much from them so I was somewhat looking forward to their Off-Venue gig at the Reykjavík Downtown Hostel – my home away from home during Airwaves.  I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by their set. Below you can find a video I took of their performance at the hostel

Góða Tungl is apparently a German folk song and I remember it well from my choir singing days. You can buy Góða Tungl and other songs from their EP Hljóma Þú on Gogoyoko.
