Hot Golden Circle – Including The Secret Lagoon
PARTNER TOUR – HANDPICKED ESPECIALLY FOR YOU
Enjoy a more personal approach to the Golden Circle on a small bus and add the new and somewhat unknown Secret Lagoon to your itinerary
There’s no denying it, the Golden Circle is by far the most popular day tour out of Reykjavík and this tour combines seeing its main sights with a visit to the more off the beaten path Secret Lagoon. The small buses ensure a more personal feel to this tour that should be extra interesting for those traveling solo.
One of this tour’s selling points is the later departure time which means you can sleep in a little longer and you will escape the morning rush at most of the places around the Golden Circle.
Guidance and admission to the Secret Lagoon
8-9 hours (pick up: 10:00 – 10:30)
All year round
About this tour
You will be picked up from your hotel or guesthouse on a 19 seater mini-bus mid morning to ensure that you can enjoy the sights at the Golden Circle after the morning crowds have come and gone. From there you will go to Þingvellir national park which is one the most beautiful places in Iceland and so rich in history that it’s one of Iceland’s most important places. From Þingvellir you will go to the geyser area at Geysir before you get some time with the famous Gullfoss waterfall.
After the main sites of the Golden Circle you will go to the Secret Lagoon, one of Iceland’s oldest pools, and soak for a while. Although the pool is man-made the water for it comes from a nearby geyser which makes the experience that much nicer. All modern facilities available (changing rooms, showers, etc.) so all you need to bring with you is your swimsuit and towel (both can be rented if forgotten).
If you don’t want to take a dip in the Secret Lagoon (which we encourage you to do) you can take a stroll around the surrounding areas while your fellow travelers enjoy the pool.
Pickup is only offered at approved pickup locations in and around the center of Reykjavík. When you book the tour, you will be asked to choose a pickup place from a list of these approved locations.
If you are staying in the suburbs of Reykjavík, or any of its neighboring towns (Kópavogur, Garðabær, Hafnarfjörður or Mosfellsbær) you will need to choose one of the approved pick-up places for your pickup and use public transportation to get there (buses or taxi). We recommend you choose the BSÍ bus station as your pickup location since it’s easy to reach with public transport.
Below is a map with the most common approved pickup locations for day tours out of Reykjavík. You’ll get the exact list to choose from once you hit Book.
By clicking on the purple bus icons you can find more information about the official downtown pickup locations. For more information about this system, please read this post on our blog.
Is there any food included on this tour // Will there be stops to buy snacks?
No food is included on this tour. It’s 8-9 hours so you’ll probably get hungry so you either need to pack your own lunch and snacks or have some money on you (ISK or credit/debit cards) to buy something. The guide will make a lunch stop somewhere along the way but where exactly depends on each day. If you have food allergies or any other dietary restrictions, we recommend you pack your own lunch. You also save money that way!
What do I need to bring with me on this tour?
Since this tour includes a stop at the Secret Lagoon (and the entrance fee to the lagoon) you need to bring with you your swimsuit and a towel (and shampoo and stuff if you need to wash your hair). There is an option to rent both swimsuits and towels at the Secert Lagoon but it’s always best to bring your own (so you won’t be the guy who looses his way-too-big trunks somewhere in the water – for example).

We also recommend you bring your camera or smartphone to snap some photos to make your friends and family at home super jealous of your fabulous jet-setter life. There are lockers at the Secret Lagoon where you can store it while you enjoy the pool.
How should I dress for this tour?
We always recommend you dress in layers. It can be really cold outside, especially in winter, and then the bus is kept quite warm so you need to be able to remove layers as well if it gets too warm.
Standard equipment for any daytour out of Reykjavík in winter is a good hat, mittens and warm socks!
Can I book this tour on the same day I arrive?
We would not recommend it. You will probably make it if you land at 4am or 5 am but if you arrive at 7am or later there’s always the chance that you won’t make the tour in time. We also recommend you do this tour when you’re rested so you’ll properly enjoy it, you’re going to be more tired than you think if you arrive on an overnight flight.
We recommend you spend your first day in Reykjavík (our walking tour is always popular for those early arrivals) and leave this tour for your second day (or any day after that) when you won’t be quite as tired and jet-lagged.
The cancellation policy for this tour is as follows:
- Cancellations received more than 24 hours in advance: 90% refund is given
