About this tour
You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the ATV headquarters on the outskirts of Reykjavík. If you would rather drive yourself you can also meet the group at the HQ. There you will be able to borrow all the warm clothing you need to make sure you stay warm during the tour before you’ll get a security briefing about the ATVs. You will follow your guide and start off slowly while you get used to the vehicle and then you are ready to explore.
The tour depends on the weather and conditions each day but you will visit two mountain tops, Hafrafell and Úlfarsfell, from where you can marvel at the magnificent views. You will see Mt. Esja, Reykjavík and the beautiful mountains that surround it.
Please note that his tour is more about the experience of being on the ATV than history, geology and such so even though there is a guide with you, he is more there to help you find your way and guide to the right places. Of course, you are welcome and encouraged to ask the guide any question you have when you stop to enjoy the view.
No experience needed
You don’t need to have any experience with ATVs prior to doing this tour as the ATVs are automatic and easy to drive. You will also get a briefing on how to use it before you head out. You do however need to hold a valid driver’s license as you need to operate most motor vehicles in Iceland.
Pickup is offered for a small fee from all major hotels, hostels and guesthouses in downtown Reykjavík
If you are staying in an AirBnB apartment or a hotel that is not included in the pickup list, it’s best if you find the next approved hotel and book your pickup from there.
If you are not sure what is the nearest pickup place, just be in touch and we’ll help you choose.
This tour is refundable until 48 hours before departure. No refund is given for no-shows and cancellations on location.

“Good action on a icy mountain road”
I was actually amazed how fun it is to drive these ATV´s. I was there with my son in law from the States and grandson . It was a cold day and ice on the road and more when we vent up the mountains but these powerful ATV´s had a good grip and took us up there without any problems. Next time I need to try them when it´s a lot of snow. The length of the trip was suitable with two mountains to drive up on. One is not enough. The guides Vidar and Hjalmar were nice and helpful.
“what a trip”
we travelled up a mountain in thick snow on quad bikes. it was as good as it sounds. you are supplied with a warm boiler suit, gloves and a crash helmet. at first I was a little apprehensive as I thought we may just be driving around a farm, but our brilliant guide (im sorry I forget his name) soon turned off the roads and headed into the unknown (well for us anyway). we kept going higher and higher until we finally reached the top of the mountain where we stopped to take in some of the amazing views. a really brilliant trip I highly recomend
