Update December 21st 2014
Unfortunately the Heart Park has been demolished and no longer exists. There is come construction work going on and you can still see some leftovers of the street art but the area is closed.
RIP Heart Park.
If you have some time on your hands when in Reykjavík I recommend you check out a little place we call the Heart Park. It’s not really a park, more a square or an empty space that was taken over by some visionaries with the intent to create a positive space where creativity would be celebrated. In the summer the space is filled with skaters, families, musicians or anyone looking to hang out and enjoy the sun or the great atmosphere. Owned by a property management company the area is sadly scheduled to be built on soon so you should hurry up and check it out.
If you are a fan of street art like me (not to be confused with vandalism) you could look at the Heart Park as a big interactive art museum and the best part is that there’s no entrance fee and it is for everyone to enjoy.
